Do you have a paper ready for publication or conference presentation?
The academic bursary funding scheme for October 2016 is now open to facilitate conference attendance, we are pleased to announce the forthcoming round. This fund is for students who have been successful in getting their work accepted for presentation and may also be accessed by students seeking to secure funding for publication. Retrospective applications for conferences after March 2016 are permitted.
Small grants of up to £200 are therefore available to support either conference presentation or publication. To be considered for such an award please submit a word document which contains the following sub-headings and information toSunny.Patel@warwick.ac.uk by Friday 28 October 2016:
1. Name, email address and year of study 2. Details of any co-authors 3. Details of conference / journal accepting your work to include title of conference or journal, date and location (conference applications only) and the nature of the presentation (oral / poster for conference or paper type (case review, original research, brief report etc.) for journal publications. 4. Overall cost of attendance or publication 5. Contribution applied for (maximum £200) and indication of other funding applied for with decisions made or pending 6. Abstract (as accepted by conference or journal) 7. Statement confirming that the work has been accepted
All submissions will be considered in competition, with priority given to students in the final 2 years of study. Successful applicants will be notified by Mid November.
Given the restricted funds available I remind all students of the need to try to identify publication routes which do not incur significant cost. Some open access publications carry a publication charge in excess of £1000 and whilst this model has many virtues, including access to current research by those working in resource poor healthcare settings, we are unable to support such costs.
